    Material properties

    Silicone rubber (VMQ) has an outstanding temperature range from -60 °C to +200 °C (short-term +230 °C) and excellent biocompatibility. It offers superb resistance to ozone, UV radiation, water, polar solvents, dilute acids and most foods. Available grades with FDA, USP Class VI, BfR, EC 1935/2004 and 3A certification for food and pharmaceutical industries. Its weak mechanical strength is compensated by static applications — not suitable for dynamic sealing functions with high friction loads.

    What is the temperature range of a VMQ O-ring?
    This VMQ O-ring is rated for continuous service of roughly -60 to 200 °C. The material tolerates brief temperature peaks higher, but near the limits service life drops significantly. If you operate at the edge of the range, ask our technician about a more suitable compound.
    What media is VMQ resistant to?
    VMQ (silicone/PTFE type) is physiologically harmless and covers a wide temperature range, so it suits food and medical applications.
